One of many favorites in our new house
Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 7:43AM The big beautiful wood door that welcomes us home! We moved into our new house this past weekend so I'm pretty much buried in boxes and finally got internet yesterday afternoon. You're officially out in hill country when you pass horses, cows and a double-wide trailer that sells tasty barbeque on your drive home! hehe! The other favorite part of our new Austin casa is the walk-in pantry, a luxury we've never had before. People look at us funny when we tell them this. In California, you learn to live small. The first house we bought in Santa Barbara was 900 sf!! I can now fully appreciate having extra space, especially for guests! Well, off to do my least favorite part of moving...picking up odds and ends at the old house and cleaning it!

Congrats on the new house. The door is gorgeous! Feeling a little jealous. I hope you get everything unpacked as quickly as you'd like. Moving can be so draining.
Hi Sharla! Thanks for visiting My Inspiration Lounge! Moving is very draining. Luckily we have the house we were renting for June. I'm hoping it won't take us that long to get completely out of there and all cleaned up! I made sure to follow you on twitter :)
Hugs, misty
Misty! I've been following you for a while but didn't realize until now that you had lived in SB! I grew up there and moved back about 8 years ago. I totally get what you mean about the pice per sq. ft. here. Well done, you--- the door alone is gorgeous, and the walk-in pantry sounds divine! Congrats.
Oh I love porches! My dream porch wraps around our entire house. *LOVE* it!
not only is that a beautiful door and dog, i love the entire porch, especially with those two huge pots! congrats on the new house :-)
Thanks ladies!! We have rented for years so it's nice to be in a home that is ours and know that we can settle in!!
@michele...thanks for your comment! Before moving to Austin last year, I lived in SB for 14 years! I was blessed to live there for the time I did but def time to move on. I miss friends and family tons but LOVE LOVE Austin!
I have a thing for front doors and I love yours! Nice job.
I can relate on the boxes, packing up here in Michigan for our July move to Austin.
I'm really freaking out just about now (not my normal state).
Your house is so classy! And those doors look very elegant, as well. I'm also happy that you're now moved in to your new home. People have been dreaming of having their own homes. It's hard having one, you know. But with the help of home loans and mortgage companies, you can now have the house that you've been dying to have.
Lucky you! Having a walk-in pantry can be quite a surprise -- especially for people who have lived in an apartment all their lives. Austin is a very beautiful place. I hope you are enjoying your new neighborhood.
