2 ways I'm taking care of me this week

I am in Austin so my massage won't quite be this but love those rare seaside massages!

Do you have a "me" list that needs some action? I know I do and I pretty much stink at making it a priority.

But this week - it wasn't about making promises I wouldn't keep. Again. After being reminded that life is short (a must-read post of mine from last week), I'm motivated more than ever to take care of me. Not only do I have a whole new respect for simply being alive but also how fragile the human body is and the pressure we put on it day after day.

So this week, to take care of me, I found a new gyno and set my appointment for an annual exam. My treat for setting my appointment - the massage I've been needing for two-years now. Woo hoo!

Here's what my "me" list looks like right now...

Trying out the new yoga center around the corner that will make me feel so good. My body is needing more than just the occasional stretch.

Finally making that haircut appointment so I feel somewhat attractive again. (Just a sidenote: I actually had my haircut in Philly while there at the women's conference without my kids. Watch out - with no kids I can completely take care of me and spend a lotta money doing it!)

Indulge myself with a massage that I've been talking and dreamin' about for two-years. Yes, it has been that long! (CHECK)

Set an appointment for the dermatologist to once again take a look at all these spots on me! Afterall, I did grow up in Florida lathering babyoil on me at a very young age.

Find a new gynecologist in the area to have an annual exam done. Yippee. Besides, all these stories of being misdiagnosed should have us being cautiously alert. I am not one to freak out. (CHECK)

Find a primary doctor to get a true physical exam. I am getting to be that age and actually these days, any age is the perfect time to get a physical exam.

Go to the chiropractor to get adjusted. I have a pinched nerve again. Never mind that I made an appointment for my husband last week!

I know that if I continue to check two or three things off my "me" list every week - I will feel great, be happy and know I'm doing my best to stay healthy for me and my family!

Here's to taking action on our "me" list!

Since today kicks off Breast Cancer Awareness month I will rescedule my mammogram appointment that I cancelled in July.

Woo hoo Michele! Thanks for reminding me that it's Breast Cancer Awareness month...that warrants a completely separate post. Glad you were inspired to reschedule your appt!
