These Playful Island Girls

It was love at first sight. Although it was 3-years later before I actually took these girls home with me! I first saw them when we were eating dinner at the Hula's Island Grill in Monterey Bay. BTW - if you're ever visiting Monterey Bay - you have to stop by the Hula's Island Grill for some of the best fish and one, if you dare, two make-you-giggle mai-tai's. :) This painting was hanging right above our table and I couldn't take my eyes off of it. The owner's father, an artist in New York City, painted it. Of course, it was too expensive. Especially, since this particular one was pretty big. Even after a couple of mai-tai's, I had the strength to leave the restaurant without my Island Girls.

Fast forward three-years later, we visit Monterey Bay Aquarium again (a must-see) and of course, have to stop by Hula's Island Grill. Guess what was hanging across from our table? My Island Girls but in a smaller size! SOLD!

They now inspire me everyday :)

Love the girls! Beautiful colors. Reminds me a bit of Gauguin, but dare I say, I like the Island Girls a little better!
