Those who know of SARK, *love* SARK. If you have no idea who I'm talking about (I'm a newbie too) let me introduce her. And you too will come to *love* her! She is an author of 15 books and known for her colorful, handwritten, eccentric, soul-baring writing that has inspired millions to think and live more creatively. I recently picked up my first SARK book after the ladies in my Ladies Who Launch incubator said it was a must-read. It's titled: The Bodacious Book of Succulence. Daring to live your succulent wild life!
She talks from the heart and her words are so worth sharing! Here are the 15 truths direct from The Bodacious Book of Succulence that inspired me...
- We are splendidly imperfect! (I love this! It adds some glam to our imperfections!)
- There is so much freedom in just saying our truth - even if it is awkward, or unpleasant, or badly received.
- If you're not getting rejected, it means you're not reaching far enough! (I live by this and get rejected daily. But there's wins mixed in there too!)
- SARK has an inspiration hotline with 3-5 minutes of inspiration recorded, monthly. 415.546.3742 (I've dialed it a couple of times -- a must-dial!)
- Our creativity in action is so needed by our world and the people in it. No other person has your eccentric blend of ideas, attitudes, and perceptions.
- No matter how lumpy or faded or boring you feel, your creativity is of value. There are treasures inside the lumps. The children need your creativity.
- Be willing to live between right and wrong. In between right and wrong is a soft, messy, laughing place where it doesn't matter. (Amen! Now I need to remember this...)
- Sometimes we need to wonder who is making our life choices!? We might stumble from one obligation to another, lost in a series of have-tos.
- Make more alive choices. When considering choices in your life, the "most alive choice" feels like a bit of a risk, makes you giggle, or makes the hairs at the back of your neck stand up. It can be a simple and tiny shift. Such as taking a new route.
- Learn to fight your inner critics as fiercely as you would an attacker.
- Micromovements are tiny, tiny little steps you can take towards completions in your life. SARK is a proclaimed procrastinator. She says all of her completed work is due to many thousands and thousands of micromovements strung together. Click here for her micromovement support sheet.
- Most of us are involved in procrastination to some degree - let's bring it out in the open, speak of it with gentleness and humor - admit when it's crushing or stopping our joy.
- Create a rejection album. Someday you can flip through these and laugh or share with a creatively stuck friend. (This is a great idea. I have a few for mine right now.)
- Healing happens in spirals and layers and inside interior crevices. It comes at 4am while watching the moon, or at a dinner party where someone looks like your lost loved one.
- A succulent is a plant that gets its nourishment and water from the inside - it replenishes itself. She wants this book to lure you back into bed, where you will lie helplessly laughing at all your past mistakes and frozen moments.
