New Year's Resolutions We Can Keep

I didn't make New Year's Resolutions the last couple of years because I knew I wouldn't keep them. This year, I was inspired by Gretchen Rubin's post at The Happiness Project, "The resolutions NOT to make for your New Year's Resolution." She shows a quick video of Deborah Siegel with the blog, Girl With Pen to see what her True Rule was for her New Year's Resolutions.

The key is to keep your New Year's resolutions fun! For example...

Drink More Wine! (and uncork the good stuff!)

Entertain More (a book exchange party is a fun idea I heard recently)

Eat More Chocolate (with strawberries or the wine!)

Dance more (with your kids, partner and girlfriends!)

Don't put off...

Wearing that special outfit that makes you shine

Only drinking bubbly on New Year's Eve.

AND definitely don't wait for someone to buy you flowers!

There is no better time than right now :)

I really like that all of your ideas here for '09 are positive and are about doing something...rather than not doing.

I think that's why most resolutions are joyless and unattainable - stop smoking, don't eat as much, don't do this or that....what fun is that?

Great post!

Happy New Year Misty! I love the resolutions... those are the kind that I can make! Use the good wine glasses, what good are they if you don't use them! Eat off the fine china! Wear your fancy shoes to pick up the kids from school!

Thank you for your comments! My theme for this year is having fun so I thought these New Year's resolutions were perfect! I thought about a few more since I wrote this -- I want to get more massages, read more, and celebrate special days ...I have let my birthday go by the last couple of years without doing much. No more!
