What the most inspiring women in the world want you to know.

I had the rare opportunity to attend Maria Shriver's WE Empower Women's Conference in Long Beach, CA. There were 14,000 women in attendance and another 1 million watching via webcast! It was mind-blowing and historic. There are only a handful of powerful people who can rally Condoleezza Rice, Indra Nooyi (CEO of Pepsi), Warren Buffet, Chris Matthews, Jennifer Lopez, Billie Jean King, Louise Hay, Bono, Christiane Amanpour, and Gloria Steinem to speak on the SAME day, in the SAME place. AMAZING. If you were not there, please please take some time to hear what these amazing ladies and gentlemen want you to know.

On the CaliforniaWomen.org homepage, click on Webcast Replay to tune in. Here are a few of my favorites...

Opening Session:

Christiane Amanpour

She begins at 1:39 and speaks for 20-minutes.

The world is for waiting for women, they need you and they need you now. Sitting on the sidelines is so yesterday - change will come when people decide it is more important to be a citizen and not just inhabit our planet.

Luncheon Session:

Maria Shriver, her speech was incredibly moving...

She begins at 00:15 and speaks for 45-minutes.

Be yourself, live an authentic life. Move through your fears. Fear keeps us from becoming who we want to be and to live our one wild and precious life. Only when we step through our fear do we meet on the other side our authentic self and become who we are meant to be.

Condoleezza Rice and Indra Nooyi, Moderator Campbell Brown

They begin at 1:00 and have conversation for 40-minutes.

Quote from Condoleezza:

The state of education, K-12 and especially underprivileged kids, is a national security issue.

Quote from Indra:

Women need to trust other women much more. Constructive advice tends to be viewed negatively when coming from another woman, why? This doesn't happen as much when coming from a man.

Other great discussions...

Warren Buffet and Arnold, Moderator Chris Matthews

Morning Session and begins at 50:00.

A quote from Warren Buffet:

Half of our potential talent has been ignored for too long.

Be inspired, get informed, be the architect of change!

I so envy you! It sounds like it was a very inspiring event. Several of my co-contributors(SVMoms blog) went. I heard the lines were long and there were long lead times to get seats. BUT...I would go in heartbeat based on the reviews I've gotten. Love your blog design, very original. And I really like they way you use the visual icons for subjects. See you soon on Twittermoms!

These are some incredibly inspiring words. I wish everyone would believe these!!! It is so true about fear and moving through it. Life is TOO short to have regrets. I never want to look back and say "what if....." No time for that nonsense! Thank you for this!

I was at Barnes & Noble today and bought the book "WE Empower Inspirational Wisdom for Women" This book is a collection of inspirational quotes from speakers of the Conference. It is a wonderful book and every woman needs a copy of this!
